![]() This isn't the first time King has used social media to talk about a headline-making issue. ![]() "That’s who we have in charge during this crisis: an idiot." "Donald Trump: the man is an idiot," he tweeted. King, a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, wrote a followup tweet about how he thinks the president is handling the public health crisis. Keep calm and take all reasonable precautions," he said. In an attempt to lay the comparisons to rest, the author, 72, took to Twitter Monday to share his thoughts. So far this season, there have been 18,000 deaths from flu in the U.S. Social media users have drawn comparisons between the two due to the novel's premise: The release of an influenza strain causes an apocalyptic pandemic, killing over 99% of the population.Īnd though the coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, has already killed 22 people in the United States and almost 4,000 worldwide, it has still claimed fewer lives than the flu. ![]() Stephen King is denouncing comparisons between his 1978 novel "The Stand" and the coronavirus. Widowed and recently retired Eugeena Patterson, a longtime resident, is determined to figure out who and why. Evidence points likely in the direction of someone in the neighborhood. The quiet neighborhood of Sugar Creek in North Charleston will never be the same after one of their own is found dead in her home. The narrator Sharell Palmer is so good that I would like to contiue experiencing these stories in her voice. I will be picking up book two in the future as an audio book again. There is a story in Deep Fried Trouble that is engaging and the characters feel like people I would know. Although Eugeena's faith is without a doubt front and center in this story it didn't make me feel beat about the head. However, Tyora Moody may make me give another Christian fiction book a more fair shake in the future. I feel preached to and I find that unpleasant. I don't tend to enjoy overt religiousness of any kind in my fiction. I almost hate to admit this out loud, but if I see something labeled "Christian Fiction" I will skip right over it. ![]() I went into Deep Fried Trouble not realizing that it was a Christian cozy mystery. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Add a long lost mother, a loaded gun, an RV full of swingers, and Hall and Oates s Greatest Hits to the mix, and Driving Sideways becomes a hilarious and original journey of friendship, hope, and discovery.
